Lorenzo de' Medici (LdM) in Florence is one of the largest schools in Florence, located in ten campus buildings (totaling 50,000 square feet) in the historic city center, right next to the thriving San Lorenzo market and church and close to transport facilities. Florence's unique architectural masterpiece, the Duomo, is within a few minutes walk. Together the LdM buildings contain a full range of facilities including numerous classrooms and large, specialized art studios, a cafeteria, a courtyard garden, a library, the Student Point and the Computer Center.

One of the main LdM buildings in Florence is situated in Via Faenza and dates back to the 13th century. It originated as a convent connected to a medieval church, San Jacopo in Campo Corbolini. This church, now deconsecrated, was founded in 1206 and for its first hundred years belonged to the Knights Templar. Rich in medieval frescoes and sculpture, the church has recently been restored to its original splendor, and serves as the setting for LdM conferences and receptions.

At LdM approximately 150 dedicated and qualified professors from Italy and all over the world teach over 400 different courses in Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Business, Economics, Political Science, Mathematics, Studio and Performing Arts, and Italian Language. Classroom-based liberal arts courses supplement traditional teaching methods by using the unrivalled opportunities that Florence offers for investigating the history and cultural heritage of Italy in galleries, palaces, gardens, churches and museums.

LdM is authorized by the Ministry of Public Education in Italy and has recognition, accreditation and membership in a number of European and international educational organizations.

Students attending LdM will earn transferable units and transcripts through Marist College, a four-year, fully accredited U.S. college in Poughkeepsie, NY.
