Created in 1964, the Universidad de Belgrano is one of the best known private universities in Argentina. Since its founding, the university has established 13 schools providing both undergraduate and graduate level education. Today, the university has an enrollment of over 14,000 students in 33 undergraduate majors and 20 graduate degree programs. Located in the Belgrano neighborhood of Buenos Aires, the university offers GSE students excellent opportunities for language and cultural immersion. Intensive Spanish language courses are offered to students at all language levels, while an extensive Latin American Studies component allows them to learn about the region’s history and culture in English. For students at a higher level of Spanish language proficiency, Latin American studies electives are also offered in Spanish. Intermediate to advanced level Spanish students also have an opportunity to take part in an integrated studies option offered by the university, allowing them to take additional courses from the university’s curriculum.
The Belgrano neighborhood surrounding the university is an upper middle class section of Buenos Aires characterized by beautiful tree lined streets and high-rise apartment buildings. The largest boulevard in the area, Avenida Cabildo, features quaint corner cafes, neighborhood grocery stores, movie theatres and unique specialty shops for both students and locals to enjoy.
