Founded in 1968, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona was established in a climate of dramatic student activism and aims to uphold four principles of autonomy: freedom to select teaching staff, admission available to all students, freedom to create its own study plans, and freedom to administrate the university's capital. UAB has moved forward at a rapid pace in its short history and is a leader in education and research, cooperating with universities and international organizations on five continents. Students can take courses in a variety of disciplines, including economics, international business and marketing, history, humanities, and of course, Spanish.
