“I had the best time of my life. I would do it all over again if I had the chance! I miss Italy already. Florence is amazing and I just love it. I started my days out with a nice morning walk and a cup of espresso. I walked across the Arno River and took some amazing pictures. I love the art, I love the fashion, and I love the people. I'm really glad I went through GSE for this trip, as they did fantastic job creating this experience for us. Thanks for making all of this possible, I will never forget this experience!” Jeff Rivet Minnesota State University, Mankato

Built on the banks of the Arno River, Florence possesses a brilliant atmosphere where an illustrious, cultural history combines with a great and modern nation, all set in the beautiful heart of Tuscany. As the birthplace of the Renaissance, Florence was home to many prominent thinkers, artists, and architects. Today, the city bears signs of the greatness of its past wherever the eye looks and is considered by many to be the most beautiful city in Italy. Whether strolling down the side of the Arno River or wandering through the labyrinth of uneven cobblestone alleyways, you will be overcome by the resurgence of natural beauty found within the city. The city center produces magnificent structures, such as the Duomo, a fifteenth century cathedral decorated in green, white, and red marble, and the Ponte Vechhio, a fourteenth century bridge which is the only bridge to survive the bombings of World War II. On the edge of the city limits indulge yourself with the fragrance of surrounding olive fields and grapevines as you admire the beauty of the Tuscan countryside. By night, Florence converts into an energetic Italian setting where it is easy to enjoy an aperitivo (drink and appetizer) and vino (wine) at the many open air cafés. As customary in Florence, when the sun sets people flock to the many piazzas (plazas) to socialize and take pleasure in an ever transforming city.
