Required Spanish Language Course
Students enrolled in this program will be required to take a Spanish Language course. The following subjects are taught in the Spanish Language courses:
Grammar: theory and practice (4.5 hours/week)
Practical Spanish: (4.5 hours/week)
Writing Comprehension and Production: Close reading of texts and essay writing (3 hours/week)
Listening Comprehension and Oral Production: communicative situations, dramatizations, disserations (3 hours/week).
Class will be held Monday-Friday in the afternoons from 3:00 pm-6:00 pm. The language levels are categorized according to the Common European System of Langauge Reference: A1 Initiation (Spanish Beginner 100), A2 Basic (Spanish Beginner-Intermediate 100) , B1 Intermediate (Spanish Intermediate 200), B2 Advanced (Spanish High Intermediate 300), C1 Superior (Spanish Advanced 300), and C2 High Superior (Spanish Superior 400). An oral and written placement test will be held on the first day of the course.
Optional Elective Courses Taught in English (Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Levels)
Students in all levels can take elective courses taught in English in addition to taking Spanish language. Each course is 45 contact hours long and worth up to 3 units.
Optional Hispanic Culture Courses (Advanced Level and Above)
Students in the Advanced levels can take elective courses taught in Spanish. Each course is either 10 or 45 contact hours and worth up to 3 units.
