OBJECTIVE:

The objective of the course is to improve or to perfect the pronunciation of Spanish for English-speaking students.  Students will learn pronunciation skills that are not only comprehensible but acceptable to native Spanish speakers.  The course also attempts to elevate the linguistic level of the student so they are better prepared to integrate into a Spanish society.

METHODOLOGY:

The course consists of 16 hours.  It is directed to English-speaking students who want to learn the proper pronunciation of the Spanish language.

The professor will show the students the characteristics of pronunciation and intonation of Spanish in comparison with that of English, while also guiding each student to recognize the defects of his or her current pronunciation.  In each class different specific problems such as pitch sounds, curves, and rate will be the focus of conversational and reading exercises.  Overall students will discover how to pronounce sounds and words with greater fluidity.
