Literature - Renaissance and Classical Literature and Civilization

This course focuses on the works of literature from this time period and how they relate to the history of France during the era.  Poetry, novels, and essays are all discussed and studied in order to give students a wide view of the civilization of the time.  The works of Montaigne and Rabelais are analyzed to present themes of the 16th century.  Through Pascal, Racine, Molière and Bossuet the French civilization of the 17th century is portrayed and discussed.
