This course begins by studying the Gallo-Roman Empire through the feudal system that governed the region where the French civilization began. The role of Christianity is then analyzed by students as they study the French Kingdom, the 13th century and the Age of Cathedrals. The progression of the monarchy is closely examined, especially with respect to topics such as the Hundred Years War, the Reformation and the religious wars of France leading to the French Revolution.
