COURSE OBJECTIVES

To be able to describe countries, cities, and people in the past tense. Be able to give instructions and to speak in the future tense. Become familiar with Spanish culture and customs.

EVALUATION

33% attendance and participation in class
The student will be evaluated both on his/her knowledge of the subject area, and his/her active participation in and out of class. The methodology used in class demands a daily participation from the student in the following points:
-correction of exercises
-activities that focus on vocabulary and grammar
-oral activities (individually, in pairs or in groups) in order to practice the grammatical content. Fluency, the correction of grammar, and the enrichment of vocabulary will be taken into consideration.

33% daily work
The student will complete the following assignments outside of class:
-grammar exercises to practice content
-reading of the textbook (reading comprehension)
-compositions to practice the vocabulary and the grammatical content (written expression)
-verbal commentaries about the text (verbal expression)

34 % written exams
The final grade will be the result of the combination of daily work, class participation, and exams. The final grade may be altered for excessive absences.

***IMPORTANT*** Class attendance is required. Any unexcused absences will negatively affect your final grade.
