Overview:
The overall objectives of this course are as follows:
- To initiatiate the notions of business ethics in a company
- To show the costs of unethical behavior
- To understand the functioning of the company in an operational mode
- To understand the tools and the audits of business ethics
- To understand the ratings of a company
- To understand the responsibilities of a company
- To see the relationship between the company and sustainable development
- To see the relationship between corporate governance and social responsibility
- To understand the stakes of the ethics of management

Evaluation:
Lectures, case studies, debates.  A final exam will be the primary basis for evaluation.

Course Plan:
Chapter 1 - Morality and Ethics
A. The confidence crisis
B. The scandals
C. Ethics as a counter-power
D. Law and ethics

Chapter 2 - Professional Code of Ethics and utilitarianism
A. The financial and strategic stakes
B. The ethical tools (codes, charters, labels, ISO standards, reports, social rating, community rating, environmental rating)
C. The job of a deontologist

Chapter 3 - Economic and financial ethics
A. Information sources on companies (FINANSOL, Association for financial economics, Ethical circle for business, European circle of Deontologists)
B. Rating agencies of companies: Vigeo (Arese)
C. Ethical advice for companies
D. Ethical investment and the financial market

Chapter 4 - Responsibility and major values of the company
A. Exemplarity, courage, tolerance
B. The strategic role of the purchasing manager. What ethics for the purchasing function?
C. From the rights of man to the respect for humanity

Chapter 5 - Human Resources department
A. Quality of managers
B. To decide, to negotiate, to create
C. Behavior and conduct
D. Recruitment and its rules

Chapter 6 - Sustainable development, the stakes of globalisation
A. Concentration and relocation of companies
B. Problem of social responsibility of companies

Chapter 7 - Corporate governance
A. The problem of good governance
B. Two views: shareholders or stakeholders
C. Interpretation of the rules and self-regulation of company behavior
D. The multinational company and "global" ethics: the liberal theory and its utilitarian ethics
