This course will cover the basic elements of the French language: vocabulary, grammar, phonetics, reading, and conversation.  French 100 is designed for absolute beginners or students with minimal French language experience.

French 100 is divided into two required components - language (cours pratiques) and phonetics. In order to receive credit on their transcripts, students must pass both components of this two-part course.  The language (cours pratiques) component consists of ten hours of classroom instruction per week, while the phonetics component consists of two and a half hours per week of phonetics laboratory.  On average students will receive 12.5 contact hours per week for four weeks.
