This course gives the student an overview of the many dimensions of the complex and dynamic subject of logistics. The course focuses on a systems integration of physical distribution, manufacturing support, choice of transport modes, and presents a comprehensive description of materials management, inventory, information technology and location analysis.
INSTRUCTIONAL METHODOLOGY : The course consists of class lectures briefly reviewing the different aspects of logistics. Groups of students will be responsible for presenting case analysis and solutions to the class.
Will be covered in class : - Logistics systems - Supply-Chain concept - Suppliers ; order management & customer service - Protective packaging & material handling - Traffic management - Distribution centers, warehouses, and plant location - International logistics - Reengineering logistics systems - Systems controls - Supply-Chain integration & management

EVALUATION : The final grade will be made up of a class participation, individual/group presentations of cases, a mid-term test, and a final examination.
