Math 101: Basic Mathematics

This course is an overview of the basics of Mathematics. It should help students who have some difficulties in mathematical calculations and should enable them to follow easily the MATH 110 course. It should help students meet the requirements of business today. A strong emphasis is placed on exercises and individual work.

INSTRUCTIONAL METHODOLOGY :
Presentation of the material to be covered, exercises to be done at home and then presented and explained in class. Quizzes, homework, a mid-term test, and a final examinations will be given. Will be dealt with in class :
- types of numbers
- sequences & percentages
- basic algebra
- formulae
- simple interest rates
- linear equations & graphs

TEXT :
specific handouts will be distributed in class.

EVALUATION :
The final grade will be made up of a class participation and homework correction (20%), quizzes (20%), a mid-term test (30%) and a final examination (30%).
